Spay/Neuter Clinics for Grant County Pet Owners
Need help with spaying or neutering your dog, puppy, cat or kitten? Pawsitive Alliance has received a ($4,940.00) grant award from The Washington Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies (“The Federation”), which will enable the completion of more than 154 spay/neuter surgeries for lower income residents of Grant County residing in Moses Lake, Soap Lake, and Ephrata.
“Pawsitive Alliance is excited to be able to partner with The Federation to provide these vital spay/neuter surgeries and improve the quality of life for animals and their guardians in Grant County”, said Amy Ferguson, Executive Director of Pawsitive Alliance. In 2017, Pawsitive Alliance launched a new transport project in Grant County working with Grant County Animal Outreach (“GCAO”) and the Yakima Humane Society Spay and Neuter Clinic. To date over 340 cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies have been spayed or neutered.
The funds for this grant award are made possible by the sale of Washington State “We Love Our Pets” license plates. In an effort to be proactive regarding the pet overpopulation problem, revenue from the sale of these license plates has been earmarked through an agreement with the State of Washington for spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats in Washington State. Since 2007, The Federation has awarded over $550,000 in license plate grant funds to qualifying animal welfare organizations throughout Washington State. These funds have enabled the completion of nearly 20,000 spay/neuter surgeries for pets of low-income households and feral or free-roaming cats. The first clinic dates are March 21st, April 11th and May 2nd. Reservations are required. Applications are available online at http://grantcountyanimaloutreach.com. Co-pays of $10 for cats and kittens and $20 for dogs and puppies must be submitted with the application.
For more information contact GCAO at 509.762.9616 or Pawsitive Alliance at 206.486.4PET.

Bow Wow Meow Luau Adoption Event
55 cats and dogs found their forever families over the weekend!
Over 350 people attended Bow Wow Meow Luau with room in their hearts to offer a new home to a deserving pet.
Kenmore, WA June 25th, 2018 ─ Pawsitive Alliance is pleased to announce that 55 cats and dogs were adopted at the annual Bow Wow Meow Luau multi-shelter adoption event, which was held this year on June 23rd at Marymoor Park in Redmond and Denny's Pet World in Kirkland. Staff and volunteers from eleven shelter and rescue organizations from across the state were onsite, turning an average Saturday into a tail-wagging good time. Pawsitive Alliance and Denny’s Pet World have partnered to co-host this event for the past six year.
Adult cats and dogs, puppies, and kittens from as far as Moses Lake and were brought to the event in hopes of finding their forever home as well as informing the public about all the options out there for finding the perfect pet.
*One of the first adoptions of the day!
"For years, we have been working with shelter and rescues groups from all over the state to help adopt out their animals," said Amy Ferguson, Pawsitive Alliance Executive Director. “By hosting large events like Bow Wow Meow Luau, people looking for a pet get a chance to meet so many different kinds of animals. Pawsitive Alliance hosts multi-shelter adoption events to provide shelter animals with additional opportunities to be adopted.”
Two of the event sponsors were also onsite to assist adopters and their new furry family members. Canine Behavior Center provided agility demonstrations and training and soon there were dogs of every size and shape jumping hurdles and scampering across elevated walkways. Petcurean, who has sponsored Bow Wow Meow Luau for several years, provided new adopters with bags of premium pet food specific to their new family member’s dietary needs so they can have a healthy start in their new home.
