Volunteer and make a difference in the lives of cats and dogs in need!
Since 2005, Pawsitive Alliance has helped over 8,000 homeless kittens, cats, puppies and dogs find forever homes and provided thousands of low cost spay and neuter surgeries as well as improved the lives of thousands more through our pet retention efforts of free supplies and ID.
We couldn't do what we do for the animals without the support of dedicated and compassionate volunteers!
Ways to get involved:
* Stay up to date on our activities and events to help cats and dogs across Washington via our monthly e-newsletter, sign up at the bottom of the page!
Opportunities to help include:
1. Consider organizing a pet supply drive with co-workers and friends, or recruit supplies through channels like Buy Nothing or Nextdoor, or your veterinarian or local pet store to see if they have items to donate. We are happy to take litter, kitten/cat and puppy/dog food (open packages of dry food is fine, bags just need to be sealed and in their original packaging), warm clothes, beds (clean and in good condition), and toys (clean and in good condition). Then contact us to arrange delivery/pick-up.
2. More drivers are needed in King and Snohomish counties to pick up pet supplies! The only way all the supplies we distribute make it to their destination is through volunteer drivers. You can pick up once or get on a regular pick up schedule. Want to drive father? We have pick up and delivery destinations in the greater Seattle area, Yakima and potentially soon in Arlington. If you like to drive AND help pets, let us know, we have many options for you! (Need to have your own car.)
3. Join us at our monthly free Pet Supply and ID event in Seattle where we offer free supplies and custom ID tags to pets of folks seeking help to care for their pets. (Most roles involve being around animals, interacting with people, standing, walking, lifting, carrying heavy items and stairs. However, we can adjust the activities as needed, just let us know).
4. Making pet I.D. tags and distributing those and other supplies to the pets of our low-income, homeless, and in-need community members during wellness clinics.
5. Help at our adoption events (work with adoptable dogs, engage with the community, promote adoption, make ID tags, photography, and more!).
Opportunities to engage from the comfort of home:
1. Research (various projects), communications and photography.
2. Fundraising: events (auction item procurement, event logistics, marketing), sponsors (solicitation), data entry, grant writing.
3. Marketing: social media, graphic design, engagement strategies.
4. Share the story of the #WhyNotMePets! It truly takes a village to help the long term home pets find the perfect home.
