Statewide Shelter Open House Event

Picture
Pawsitive Alliance is partnering with animal shelters across Washington on October 13, 2012 to help increase awareness of the wonderful work being done for homeless animals at our communities’ shelters across our state.

The Open House will highlight the work of shelters across the state and the homeless animals in need that they help on a daily basis, in order to inspire community members to get more involved through adoption, volunteering, and other support.

In Washington State approximately 40,000 to 60,000 kitties, puppies, cats and dogs are euthanized each year due to lack of space. Pawsitive Alliance is working hard to bring awareness to the needs of local shelters and their homeless animals. Part of the success of the Open House Event will be driven by uniting the cause, elevating awareness in your community, and bringing attention to each shelter and each animal that they care for.

The Open House Event is a fun opportunity to bring attention to hundreds of adoptable animals, to save many lives, and give families the opportunity to welcome a new family member into their home.

Animal welfare organizations involved in this unique event include:
  • Everett Animal Shelter in Everett, WA.
  • Grant County Animal Outreach in Moses Lake, WA. They will be gearing up for their Masquerade Ball that same evening with specials on Cougar Canines (dogs altered at WSU's veterinary school) for $40.00 and adopt one cat for $65 and get a second for $25.00!
  • Homeward Pet Adoption Center in Woodinville, WA.  HPAC is offering Free Microchips for All during the Open House Event!
  • Humane Society of Central Washington in Yakima, WA.  HSCW is going for the win in the ASPCA 100K Challenge and so they are celebrating with a football theme in their Fan Fever Open House Event.  All dogs have only a $30 adoption fee, and cats only have a $5 adoption fee all through the month of October!
  • The NOAH Center in Stanwood, WA.  They will be running a special on all adoptions done that day, as well as planning fun activities like face painting, photo booth, Jamba Juice, popcorn machine, raffle prizes,  free giveaways, 10% off discount in the gift shop, and a chance to tour The NOAH Center.
  • Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Lynnwood, WA.  They will have tasty treats on hand for light snacking offering fee-waived adoptions for senior animals at both their Lynnwood and Cat City locations!
  • Regional Animal Services of King County in Kent, WA.  They will have no-fee adult cat adoptions and celebrating national Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.
