FAQs
What kind of dogs will be at the event?
We typically get emails and calls from people before the event asking whether we will have a specific breed or dog at the event. It is hard for us to say exactly what kinds of dogs will be at the event. Most of the shelters do not know which dogs they are bringing until right before the event. You can link to their websites from our site and see their available dogs and puppies and also contact them directly if you are inquiring about a specific dog. We can say that with approximately 100 puppies and dogs, we will have a variety of breeds, age, size and energy level, including puppies and small breed dogs. Many people have successfully found their new best friends at our events. See individual Event pages for a list of rescue groups and shelters attending.
True or False: The best dogs go first.
False: Every dog is great and unique. Your family's needs are unique too. Come and meet dogs throughout the day and talk to the organizations about which dog will make the best match with your family.
Be patient during the process. The events are full of excitement and it takes some time to find the right dog for your circumstance. Meet with the dogs, take them for a walk, and talk with their rescuer to find about the dog's specific needs.
Adoption Fees
Adoption fees will range from $150.00 to $250.00. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and temperament tested. Adoption is a great value. The cost of spaying and neutering alone ranges from $110 for a male dog to over $200 for a female dog. All dogs and puppies are also up to date on shots and many are also microchipped.
Will I be able to bring a pet home that day?
All dogs will be spayed and neutered, up to date on shots and temperament tested. If a good match between family and adoptable dog is made, you should be able to take your new family member home that day.
Should I bring the dog I currently have to the event?
Yes, we encourage families to bring their current dog to the event to introduce to available dogs. Trainers may also be able to give their opinion on whether it is a good match.
