Woofstock: The Summer's Pet Adoption & Music Festival
Dugan Foundation’s Woofstock 2009 was a howling success at University of Puget Sound, Todd Field on Sunday. Petco Foundation was the title sponsor for the event that attracted close to 1000 people, and adopted out 115 animals and still counting. Cats, dogs and even ferrets found new families as the music played, guests shopped, played, waded in pools, and got to know new family members.
Rescue groups were nestled in the trees along the field, offering pets for adoption from Yakima, Wenatchee, Grant County, Puyallup, of course Tacoma, Seattle and more. The 6 foot digital reader board displayed adoption numbers, and jumped in increments of 20 and 30 in the middle of the day.
The field was filled with the bright blue Woofstock tie-dye tee-shirts dancing to the music of The Dave Hannon Band along with their dogs. And, Trader Joes handed out goodies for the whole family from under their bright red umbrella.
Next year’s August event will feature a special kids zone, more acoustic music and even more adoption groups. Don’t miss it!
