BARKtober Fest Breaks Adoption Event Record!

On Sunday, 90 dogs went home with loving families. We’ve been blessed to have had many successful events, but this takes the cake. Young and old, big and small, 90 dogs from a 4 lb Chihuahua to a 100 lb Mastiff found homes. Among the success stories:

Scruffy Finds a Home and a Family
This is Scruffy and his new family. Scruffy has three legs and is six years old. We are thrilled that several special needs and older dogs found homes on Sunday. Look how Scruffy’s new mom, Carolyn, loves him already!

The Puppy from PAWS
A happy couple cuddle with the puppy they are adopting from PAWS.

Make Way for the Mastiff
The Tibetan Mastiff and his new mom met at the event, but neither could foresee the problem with transportation home. The new Mastiff mom couldn’t fit her new kid in her two-seat car and had to go home to get the proper vehicle!

Big, Lovable Bruno
Bruno, a big, lovable lug and a KCACC shelter staff favorite, finds a family to love him.

Little, Lovable Duke
Even 15-year-old Duke, a tiny Chihuahua with a big heart, found a family to love him. We all learned a lesson from the young girl who opened her heart to the sweet, older dog. Just another reminder that all dogs, young and old, bring love and joy to us.

Cheech Makes a Connection
Finally, “Cheech” and his new brother get ready to go home.

To add to the joy and good news of Sunday, Lisa and Holly from http://sheltersharing.com/ arrived with a truckload of donated pet food and supplies for our participating shelters. We are so moved by their generosity. Thank you ladies for turning your concern into action.

A special thank you to our volunteers who work so tirelessly with us to save lives, to the staff at the Academy of Canine Behavior for hosting the event, and to Robin Grannell of Canine Behavior Center for presenting the pre-adoption event workshop.
