Spring Adoptathon 2006

Energized barking came from one side of the door and excited chatter from the other. The line of families extended down the sidewalk almost an hour early waiting for our Spring Adoptathon to begin at Cascade K9 in Preston, WA held March 19, 2006.

More than 60 dogs and cats of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages and breeds from across the state were waiting to go to their forever home. Scottie, Huey, Mr. Boxer, Beau, were just four of the animals brought to the adoption event by six Washington animal rescue agencies. Staff and volunteers from each agency gathered early Sunday morning getting the animals they have loved and cared for ready and driving, some more than two hours, to this opportunity to give the animals a chance to go home with a loving family.

As the day progressed, the barking grew fainter and fainter as adoptions took place and animals walked out the door to begin their new life. And we're quite certain all were beaming, both two legged and four legged. By the end of the event, 50 dogs and 6 cats went home with their new family.

As happy as we all are by the results of this event there are still many animals waiting for someone to adopt them and give them a lifetime of deserved happiness.
